Vidushi’s Cow Corner

I’ve been to Vidushi’s Cow Corner several times before writing this review, and I can confidently say it’s one of the top dining spots in the Palolem-Patnem area. The waitstaff is professional and welcoming. Upon seating, you’re immediately served fresh water, setting the tone for a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is tranquil and beautiful, complemented by soothing background music.

While the Internet at this location is usually good, it can be inconsistent, varying from as low as 1Mbps to 70Mbps. This fluctuation seems tied to heavy usage and data plan limits, common in popular spots in India. they said they will improve it, but just be aware.

Now, let’s talk about the fantastic food. The standout appetizer has to be the crispy mushrooms. Any dish they serve that’s panko fried is exceptionally crispy on the outside while remaining moist inside – a culinary feat I’m yet to figure out. The accompanying tartar sauce is equally impressive. These mushrooms are a must-try!

Additionally, a friend tried the grilled chicken salad, which was quite good, though he found it not filling enough on its own.

The main dish i had this time at Cow Corner was the chicken schnitzel, a dish that particularly impressed me. This schnitzel involves a thinly sliced chicken breast that’s panko fried – coated in flour, dipped in beaten eggs, breaded with panko breadcrumbs, and fried to a perfect golden brown. It’s served super crispy with tartar sauce on the side and a salad. I usually substitute the standard fried potatoes for extra salad, as I prefer to limit fried foods, but their potatoes are quite good.

This schnitzel is honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The exterior was perfectly crispy, while the inside remained moist and juicy. Two of my friends also ordered it and confirmed it’s consistently delicious and never dry.

Another friend tried the Schnitzel Burger, essentially the regular schnitzel but served as a burger with a bun. It featured several thin patties, which made it a bit challenging to bite into – as it consisted of 3 patties stacked together.

A vegetarian friend of mine tried the veg spaghetti meatballs here, with extra cheese, twice. Although I’m not typically a spaghetti enthusiast due to its high carb content and lack of gravy.

I must admit that if you’re a spaghetti lover, you’d probably enjoy this dish. The veg meatballs were particularly tasty. Watching my friend savor this dish was a testament to its appeal.

Another friend chose the eggs & bacon croissant, minus the bacon, which seemed a bit of a miss. The eggs were well-prepared, but I didn’t get a chance to try it as it was quickly devoured – a good sign of its tastiness. I’m looking forward to trying it myself next time. The accompanying salad, with baby cherry tomatoes and delightful vinegar, was a standout.

I did get to taste the fish fingers – shrimp panko fried, adding an extra layer of deliciousness. They were served with a generous portion of their special sauce, making it yet another delightful dish on their menu. (image is after we ate most of them)

For dessert, we sampled two options. I had previously tried the brownie with ice cream and knew it was a standout choice here. As I recalled, it was exceptional and paired perfectly with the ice cream. Its chocolatey richness, with a hint of salt, created a wonderful contrast. The ice cream complemented it so well that an extra scoop might be a good idea next time.

Another companion opted for the chocolate cake, which initially seemed quite ordinary. However, after a few moments, the moist, rich flavors really came through, revealing its quality. It was a delightful surprise how well the taste developed.

Overall, Vidushi’s Cow Corner continues to impress. Nearly all their dishes are incredibly tasty and well-prepared, maintaining their reputation as one of the best eateries in the area.

Second Visit to Vidushi's Cow Corner

Date: 11/01/24, Time: 16:30

Upon arrival to Vidushi’s Cow Corner, my first task was to find a plug, as my battery had run out at Sea Touch, which doesn’t offer any. The only available outlet was inside the seating area, but it lacked a fan on this particularly hot day.

Impressively, the staff immediately began assembling a new fan just for my comfort. really one of the best restaurant staff around, Karma one of the temp waiters here is the best guy ever. can’t wait to get to Ladakh to visit he’s future restaurant.

Today, the Wi-Fi was excellent, around 70Mbps.

I first ordered a Ginger Lemon Honey Tea (GLH). It was served with one lemon slice and a honey squeezer, allowing me to add as much honey as I desired. One lemon slice wasn’t quite enough, so upon requesting more, Karma the waiter, with a smile, provided three additional slices, which was just right for me. The ginger flavor was prominent, making this the best GLH in the area, alongside that of Ceasare’s Cafe.

For my meal, I chose the Chicken steak with mushroom sauce, a dish I’ve enjoyed here about three times before. It comes with potato wedges. The highlight of this dish is the incredible mushroom sauce. I also requested their special mayonnaise for the potatoes, which was quite tasty.

The dish features two types of mushroom sauce: a darker, wine-infused version, and a standard mushroom sauce. Both are superb. I appreciate the generous portion of sauce provided, which perfectly complements the steak and prevents it from being too dry.

To conclude my meal, I had the brownie with ice cream, my favorite dessert here. It’s suitable for one or two people. Sometimes, it’s advisable to ask for an extra scoop of ice cream, depending on your preference.

The brownie itself is exceptional – rich in chocolate flavor, incredibly moist in the center, almost soufflé-like. The subtle hints of salt and small bits of nuts added a perfect touch.

My time at Cow Corner was once again wonderful, especially with the reliable and stable internet. Although the chair was less comfortable this time, the table height was just right.

The told me tommorow is a goodbye to Karma for he’s last day and there is going to be the special Austrian Goulash.

Third Visit to Vidushi's Cow Corner

Date: 12/01/24, Time: 15:45

I found myself returning to Cow Corner two days in a row, enticed by their special for the day: Austrian Goulash. They mentioned it’s authentically cooked for seven hours, consisting of beef cubes slowly simmered with onions in a beef broth, eventually transforming into a rich gravy.

I already knew from previous experiences that I don’t enjoy Semmelknödel, a type of bread dumpling, as it has a taste that doesn’t appeal to me. So, I requested a substitution and they kindly offered potatoes instead, which I was happy with.

When the goulash arrived, it lived up to the high standards I’ve come to expect from Cow Corner. It was fantastic, easily the best goulash I’ve had.

I finished with a Pineapple lassi as kind of dessert which was really nice.

Not sure if its my last time here, not many more dishes left to try but who knows, Vidushi’s Cow Corner is really the best restaurant around 🙂
