The Singh Family

While looking for a place to eat with friends, we settled on the Singh Family Restaurant in Palolem. They had favorable Google Maps reviews.

I wasn’t carrying my computer, so our focus was purely on good food for this specific visit (I came the next day with the computer).

I started with the tandoor butter garlic chicken, while my friend chose the Kingfish grilled in tandoor. The chicken was quite good, but I’ve experienced better butter and garlic flavors elsewhere, like the tandoori chicken at Brendon’s. Nonetheless, it was still a satisfying dish.

My friend wasn’t impressed with the Kingfish. It was well-prepared but lacked something special, and the accompanying paprika red sauce didn’t quite hit the mark.

Next, I ordered the Malai Kofta with two butter rotis. Despite initial skepticism due to its super white appearance and seemingly hard rotis, the dish turned out to be fantastic.

The rotis were surprisingly thin in a good way and complemented the creamy malai gravy perfectly.

The koftas were Amazing, similar to The Olive’s Koftas but maybe not as good, still i would place it 3rd after The Olive’s and Nireas Malai Kofta.

The following day, I returned with my computer to gauge the work environment. I found a comfortable two-person seating area with plastic chairs covered in leather, and conveniently, every table had a power outlet.

The first Wi-Fi network I tried was poor, but after switching to a second network, I got a decent speed of around 20Mbps.

I decided to try another Indian dish, the house special Chicken Curry. It was a large, spicy tomato-based dish with an omelet covering the chicken inside.

The butter roti was different this time, less hard and crunchy, but still enjoyable. The dish was perfectly spicy and quite satisfying.

For dessert, I had the ‘Hello to the Queen.’ And another surprise, lo and behold finally a place that knows how to make hot chocolate! Also the biscuits were perfectly mixed in.

However, the bananas were oddly placed on the side, and the single small scoop of ice cream was insufficient.

When I asked for an extra scoop, it cost an additional 90 rupees, and again, the scoop was quite small. This dessert ideally needs three or four of these small scoops.

I shared my thoughts with the waiter after finishing.

Overall, the Singh Family Restaurant is a great choice for Indian dishes and the ‘Hello to the Queen,’ especially by Goa’s standards. It’s one of the best in the region for this dessert.
