While driving around in search of a new restaurant, I stumbled upon Royal Italy. After confirming the availability of Wi-Fi, I decided to give it a try.
The atmosphere was a bit dark, with Indian pop music videos playing on TV – not the most appealing atmosphere, but the place had an authentic feel and a reasonably priced menu.
The Wi-Fi speed reached around 25Mbps, sufficient for most of my needs but fluctuated a bit.
Seating options included normal low chairs with backrests and higher leather sofas, although the latter had quite low backrests, providing limited back support. A positive aspect was the abundance of power outlets.
The wall art was a highlight for me.
The menu had a large section dedicated to various types of Dosa, reminding me of an amazing Dosa I had in Margao. I opted for the cheese masala dosa on the waiter’s recommendation.
It arrived quickly, thinner than usual, with minimal cheese and masala, resulting in many empty areas on the dosa. It wasn’t bad, but I’d describe it as average.
Next, I ordered a half tandoori chicken, which was excellent. The chicken was mostly soft, seasoned with butter, herbs, and a bit of salt – very satisfying. The accompanying fries and salad were standard fare.
Overall, Royal Italy is a great value-for-money option for nomads in Palolem.
