Kanvas Restaurant

Kanvas, a gem in Goa, is renowned for serving the best beef burger in Goa. This restaurant has quickly become my top pick since arriving in Goa, especially for its exceptional beef burger.

The staff at Kanvas add to its charm – they’re friendly, often sharing laughs with the customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The background music is always a hit; currently, ‘Summer Days’ (feat. Bajka) by Radio Citizen is setting a great vibe.

It’s important to note, though, that while the hamburger here is exceptional by Indian standards, rating an easy 9 out of 10, it might be considered just decent in other countries.

Kanvas is also an ideal spot for digital nomads, featuring comfortable seating, especially cozy for solo diners, with small tables and ample cushions. The high-speed Wi-Fi, ranging from 60Mbps to 120Mbps, and plentiful power outlets make it perfect for work.

Their salads are noteworthy too. You can customize your own, which I did, opting for eggs, goat cheese, avocado, and honey mustard sauce. While the salad was slightly less impressive this time, lacking in goat cheese and having a thicker than ideal sauce, it was still enjoyable.

For my main course, I chose the beef burger with cheese, substituting fries for a coleslaw to pair with the salad. Kanvas stands out by providing mayonnaise and ketchup in squeezers, with their homemade, eggless mayonnaise being notably high quality.

The burger, as usual, featured a large, well-done patty. Its thickness complemented the cooking style well. Remember, this is a beef burger in India, so it’s as good as it gets here.

The bun was fresh and the burger cooked to perfection with a crisp exterior. However, the cheese was less prominent than expected. The salad was well-seasoned with spices and lemon, and the coleslaw was particularly tasty.

Interestingly, Nada Brahama, Kanvas’s Older sibling restaurant, offers a similar menu. Their burger is comparable in taste, with slightly smaller patties but more cheese, Nada also cooks it Medium well compared to a well done in Kanvas. Both restaurants maintain a high standard for their burgers.

Moving on to dessert, I ordered ‘Hello to the Queen‘, a favorite of mine that I hadn’t yet tried at Kanvas. It arrived in a medium size, suitable for one or two people. As is common in South India, it lacked hot chocolate, only featuring a mild chocolate sauce.

Strawberries were added, which some might enjoy, along with a few raisins and a sprinkle of almonds. The caramelized bananas were nicely done, though they could have been better, and the portion of ice cream was generous for the dessert’s size. Overall I still enjoyed it 🙂

In conclusion, Kanvas is the go-to place in Goa for the best beef burger. Its inviting atmosphere, excellent for both dining and working, makes it a must-visit for locals and tourists alike.

Revisiting Kanvas Restaurant

January 10, 2024

After a few challenging days suffering from an upset stomach due to some Indian food i ate in my last visit to Arambol at north Goa, I decided it was time for a change and headed back to Kanvas for their double patty Beef burger, a dish I used to enjoy frequently just a few weeks back.

What’s interesting is how the staff at Kanvas are more adept with the term ‘double patty’ compared to their sister restaurant, Nada Brahma. I definitely recommend giving it a try at Kanvas only.

They prepare it exceptionally well – two gigantic, incredible patties, oozing with cheese, just as delightful as always.

Next, I was eager to revisit the taste of fried momo with banana and Nutella, a dish that left me with unforgettable memories from a decade ago in the north of India.

Unfortunately, this experience didn’t live up to my nostalgia. The preparation was lacking; the dough didn’t fry well. While the banana and Nutella were pleasant, and the additional chocolate dip added a nice flair, the subpar momo itself was a letdown.

Overall another good experience in the Kanvas restaurant, you can’t go wrong with the beef cheese burger here.
