Cafe Kashish is located on the road between Palolem and Patnem. It’s known for its excellent hospitality, managed by Kashish and her daughter, around 10 years old, who both speak fluent English and are very friendly and engaging with customers.
It’s important to note that there’s no Wi-Fi here, so it’s not a spot for work. It’s more of a dine-and-go place.
I visited a few weeks back, aiming to take food to friends living nearby. I don’t have a photo, but I ordered a cheesy chicken – simple chicken cubes topped with melted cheese. It was quite good, prompting me to plan a return visit for other dishes.
My first dish on returning was the Malai Kofta with cheese naan. The dish was somewhat bland, lacking in creaminess and spice, though the koftas themselves were good, filled with cheese. I shared my feedback with the owner.
The cheese naan, however, was quite ordinary.
Interestingly, when I visited the next day, a friend ordered the Malai Kofta as well. It seemed improved based on my suggestions – more flavorful and creamy with added spices and a sweet red ingredient. It’s great to see their commitment to improving.
A friend tried the Palak Paneer, which was creamy and rich. Although the paneer wasn’t fried separately as I prefer although it’s usually not fried, it was still a very enjoyable dish, served with rice.
I also had a mango lassi, which was deliciously thick.
On another visit after a sauna, the owner remembered me and offered mutton curry. The curry and mutton, rich in fat but a bit bony, were delicious.
Overall, Cafe Kashish is a solid choice for dining and offers delivery, one of the few in the area. However, as a nomad, I won’t be returning regularly.
