Cafe Krishnam, located on the main road in the heart of Patnem, one of the first places I’ve been to after I moved into a nearby rental last month. Initially, I was unaware of its reputation as one of the best vegetarian places in the area.
Divia, the owner of this cafe, is an incredibly warm and welcoming person who takes great care of her cafe and its customers. She is almost always present and I highly recommend striking up a conversation with her.
Despite my preference for non-vegetarian cuisine, I decided to give it a try. On my first visit, I ordered the paneer tikka masala, opting for the special Ragi, a healthier alternative to roti and remember it was delicious.
This time, I chose the malai kofta, a personal favorite, having heard good things about it here. They offer a combo that includes three rotis.
The Wi-Fi at Krishnam is fairly good, ranging between 30 and 50Mbps, and there are plenty of power outlets. However, the seating isn’t ideal for work; there are benches without backrests (a wall doesn’t count), and other areas have floor seating, which is great for socializing but not for working.
I first ordered for the first time a fresh lemonade which was weird, can’t say i didn’t like it but it wasn’t what i expected, it wasn’t cold and it was actually more salty than sweet.
When the malai kofta arrived, I was impressed by its creamy, fluid consistency. It was extremely flavorful, sweet but not excessively so, pairing well with the roti. Possibly the best malai kofta gravy I’ve had in the Palolem area.
However, the koftas themselves were a letdown. They felt rough and bland, not integrating well with the gravy. Primarily made of paneer, possibly with some potato, they didn’t absorb the sauce as I believe they should.
In my opinion, potato koftas with a bit of cheese, typically cottage cheese, would be more suitable. Overall, the dish was really good, but with improved koftas, it could be perfect.
A friend joined me while i was eating and ordered the Palak Paneer which was also very creamy and fresh gravy, it was a better dish than the malai kofta for sure.
Krishnam Cafe is a great spot to relax and enjoy time with friends. For nomads, it’s just okay, mainly due to the seating arrangement.
Second Visit to Cafe Krishnam
Date: 16/01/24, Time: 12:45
I visited Krishnam again to have a meeting with a friend.
One significant improvement I noticed was the Wi-Fi, now ranging between 70 and 100Mbps, which is fantastic. This makes Krishnam almost perfect for nomads, especially vegetarians, with the only downside being the seating comfort.
Following my friend’s recommendation, I ordered the Paneer Bhurji for 270 rupees. It was delicious, requiring no gravy or roti, easily enjoyed with just a spoon.
My friend chose a rice curry pakora, which unfortunately didn’t impress much. She mentioned that it was much better the previous evening, suggesting there might be a difference in chefs between the morning and evening shifts.
Another nice experience in Krishnam, good time working here for a couple of hours.
Menu
The Menu is a bit of a problem in cafe krishnam since its all hand written its a bit hard to understand
