Casa Jaali

Casa Jaali stands out as a serene restaurant and guesthouse located at the northern end of Patnem Beach, offering splendid views of the beach.

One of its notable features is the incredibly fast and stable internet, a rarity in the area. With speeds ranging from 100 to 200mbps for downloads and up to 100mbps for uploads, it’s a haven for nomads seeking reliable connectivity.

The menu at Casa Jaali is on the pricier side compared to other local eateries. However, there’s a buzz about the quality of the food, raising expectations of a dining experience that justifies the cost.

Menu

Being a burger enthusiast, I naturally gravitated towards the beef burger on the menu. They asked how i like it done which was a surprise and raised expectations even more, and I opted for medium-rare with an addition of simple white cheese which was the only thing they had when asked.

The burger presentation was appealing, accompanied by a small salad and fried potatoes. Although it was served with ketchup and a tasty spicy mayonnaise, I requested extra regular mayonnaise, which they generously provided. Unfortunately, the burger was more towards medium-well, and they forgot to add the cheese.

My first bite of the beef burger at Casa Jaali was disappointing. It lacked juiciness and had a dominant spice flavor, overshadowing any meaty taste. The burger felt dry and bland. I ended up relying mostly on the spicy mayonnaise for flavor, as the regular mayonnaise provided was of low quality. However, the buns were a saving grace, being fresh and fluffy.

The accompanying potatoes were decent, offering a fresh taste with a slight crispiness, but they were not extraordinary. I wouldn’t particularly recommend this burger based on my experience.

I then tried the Iced butterfly pea flower lemonade, known for its health benefits. It was served creatively, allowing me to add lemonade and sugar water to my taste. I prefer my lemonade sweet, so I added all of the shots and really enjoyed the unique twist it offered.

A friend opted for the Bean sprout salad with paneer and was quite satisfied with it. I’ve heard from others too that salads are a strong suit at this place.

For dessert, I chose the peanut caramel chocolate tart, which was quite well-made. The caramel was sweet and delightful, although I thought covering the tart entirely in chocolate would have enhanced both its appearance and taste. Despite this, it was a pleasant dessert.

In conclusion, Casa Jaali is a lovely spot for lunch, especially if you’re in the mood for a salad, as I was initially advised.

and Although the sitting comfort is decent at best the wifi speed and stability is the best around so it’s a great place for my fellow nomads.

I was drawn in by the allure of live guitar music. A friend had mentioned it, and the decision to go was brilliant. The music, played by Peter Tegner (whom you can find on Spotify), was reminiscent of classical tunes but solely on the guitar, each note striking a chord with our emotions.

We started with buffalo wings as an appetizer. They were quite tasty, especially the sauce. The wings seemed to be coated in a sort of bread batter which wasn’t crispy – a bit of a letdown, as I would have preferred a crunchier texture.

Before the wings, we had actually ordered calamari with pineapple and ginger, a dish someone had once recommended. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The calamari was poorly prepared, and the spices didn’t blend well. Only the pineapple brought some redemption. My friend even insisted we send it back, and the staff obliged.

On another friend’s suggestion, I ventured to try an Italian dish. Although I’m not typically a pasta eater, I decided to give the Fettuccine a shot. I wanted some protein and creaminess, so the waiter recommended Fettuccine with chicken, white cream, and cheese on top.

Surprisingly, the dish was quite satisfying, even for my critical palate. The Fettuccine was cooked to perfection, and the cream was delightful. However, it lacked in both chicken and cheese, so I didn’t quite get the protein boost I hoped for and didn’t finish the dish.

For dessert, I chose the Basque cheesecake, as I’m a big fan of cheesecakes. This one was Fantastic.

It melted in my mouth, leaving a savory, pleasant taste that I wished could last forever. It was simple yet divine, probably the best dessert I’ve had in Goa. A must-try!

Overall, the night at Casa Jaali was splendid, with great music, enjoyable food, and a lovely atmosphere.
