The Mill, a vegetarian café located a bit off the beaten path from Palolem Beach on the road to Patnem, caught my attention thanks to a recommendation. Known for its solid internet speeds and quality food, it seemed like an ideal spot for a digital nomad like me.

Atmosphere and Service
The Mill’s atmosphere is defined by its calm and varied musical backdrop – from high-quality elevator-like tunes to enjoyable songs like David Gray’s “Sail Away”. The staff’s friendly smiles and assistance in finding a suitable place to sit made the experience welcoming.

Culinary Experience
Apart from serving high-quality Blue Tokai coffee with notes of dark chocolate, figs, and toasted almond, The Mill also offers a unique Turmeric latte. Opting for this health drink, I was pleasantly surprised by the natural and distinct taste of their brown organic sugar. An additional 50 rupee charge for honey indicated its authenticity, which I appreciated.

Eggs Benny – A Vegetarian Delight
Although they were out of their usual bread for my Eggs Benny, I agreed to try the gluten-free option. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, just as I prefer – runny. However, the gluten-free bread was a bit thin and bland for my taste, not adding much to the dish. The hollandaise sauce was well-prepared, but I would have liked a bit more of it on top for extra flavor.

Room for Improvement
While the food and service at The Mill are commendable, the seating comfort could be improved for longer stays, especially for those looking to work on their laptops. The chairs, even with cushions, can cause discomfort, and the room can get quite warm with limited ventilation.
